Kamehameha Schools Kapālama

Vision and mission

Our Vision

Nu‘ukia

Our enterprise-wide vision is guided by Kūhaunana: A Generation on the Rise!: “Within a generation of twenty-five years, we see a thriving lāhui where our learners experience post secondary educational success, enabling good life and career choices. We also envision that our learners will be grounded in Christian and Hawaiian values and will be leaders who contribute to their communities both globally and locally.”

Here at Kapālama, the vision for all learners across our K-12 campus is a call to action: “Lift our haumāna to lift the lāhui! Empowering our haumāna to pursue their passions by delivering a world class education based on Christian and Hawaiian values.”

The Kapālama High School is a dynamic and innovative Kula Hawai‘i whose piko is Kapālama.  Kapālama is a place to nurture and cultivate Native Hawaiian haumāna to become global minded servant leaders and successful lifelong learners.

 Our High School program:

  • grounds curriculum in Hawaiian epistemology (language, culture, spirituality and ways of knowing)
  • incorporates best educational practices to build a foundation based on the 21st Century Skills and Attributes for Hawaiians
  • promotes relationships, responsibility, respect, rigor, relevance, resourcefulness, resilience, and reflection.
  • develops a worldview that integrates Hawaiian, Western, and other perspectives
  • cultivates a commitment of service to ke Akua, ‘ohana, community, lāhui, world, ‘āina
  • advances the health and spiritual well being of our community
