Na Hanana (events)

Senior athlete recognition: Senior athletes are recognized at the last home game of the season. The recognition event is conducted with dignity, respect and in the spirit of a Warrior Athlete. Parents work with coaches and administrators to coordinate the event.

Quarterly and annual athletic recognition: Kula haʻahaʻa athletes are recognized at quarterly assemblies. Kula Waena athletes are recognized at their grade level end of year assembly with one female and male per grade level.

End-of-season athletic pā‘ina: High school parents coordinate the end of season banquet or potluck for every sport/team.

Athletic signings: The Athletic Academic Counselor coordinates Letter of Intent signing events for student-athletes, their families, coaches, and support staff.

Athletic varsity letter awards: Athletic letters are awards given to varsity-level student-athlete. Every varsity athlete receives a “K” throughout their high school career. In addition, sport specific pins will be given for their first year of varsity participation. Each subsequent year, the athlete receives a Warrior bar representing multiple varsity year participation.

HHSAA Hall of Honor: The Hawai‘i High School Hall of Honor was established in 1982 by Nissan Motors to recognize “athletic excellence and accomplishments of Hawai‘i’s high school athletes.” In 2004, the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association assumed responsibility to continue this prestigious tradition. Each year, 12 student-athletes are selected for induction into the Hall of Honor by an independent selection committee. Each honored student-athlete also receives a $2,000 college scholarship.

HMSA Kaimana Award: The awards program recognizes Hawai‘i high schools for all-around excellence in five categories: academics, athletics, community service, healthy activities, and sportsmanship.

Maui News sports spotlight: The Maui News recognizes a few student-athletes per participating school and all MIL championship coaches at an annual banquet. Approximately six senior KSM student-athletes are recognized during this event and are selected by the KSM athletic staff.

MIL captain’s table: Student-athlete captains within the MIL participate in a quarterly half day leadership development program with the MIL Executive Director and Maui Athletic Directors. Every varsity sport captain is represented at this quarterly event.
